November 17, 2016- “The 1st Distillery in Minneapolis” with Norseman Distillery

Norseman was Minneapolis’ first new legal distillery since Prohibition, opened by former architect Scott Ervin. Starting things off at the end of 2013 in a small basement room where he painstakingly hand-ground corn pound by pound, making small batches of gin and vodka which friends would help him get into bottles during night-time bottling parties.

Norseman’s popularity quickly grew. As more and more people learned of Norseman and demand increased they grew rapidly. It grew so much, they had to move out of the basement and into a location in Northeast Minneapolis. There they continue to distill, give tours and create their take on new liquors such as rum and bourbon in addition to gin and vodka where it all started.

This tour will walk through the progression of distillation, the different processes involved in each variety of liquor and the process of sourcing ingredients. After the tour you will get to taste 9 different varieties that Norseman offers.
